E.S. Wagner Company (ESW), a construction contractor and highway project company, performed the site development package on an 80 acre project for the construction of a 750,000 square foot distribution facility for Campbell’s Soup in Findlay, Ohio. As part of this contract, ESW self-performed 400,000 cubic yards of earthwork including the excavation a five acre onsite detention pond. In addition to the earthwork, ESW placed over 35,000 tons of aggregate for the proposed parking and drive areas. A portion of the site occupied a former shooting range which required lead remediation, which was performed under a separate contract. However, the impacted area was located within the building footprint which required ESW to adjust operations in order to keep the site progressing while the remediation was performed. Beyond the site grading, ESW installed over 19,950 linear feet of underground utilities ranging in size from 1.5” service lines to 54” storm sewers along with 63 associated structures. Utility work consisted of sanitary gravity lines, potable water lines up to 12”, fire lines up to 12”, and storm sewer up to 54”. With the exception of $70,000.00 of specialty subcontractors, the entire package was self-performed by ESW construction work jobs in Ohio. In addition to the base contract work, ESW stepped in to fill multiple scope gaps for the general contractor in order to maintain the project’s completion schedule.
