E.S. Wagner Company, LLC of Piedmont, South Carolina served as the prime contractor for construction of the Norfolk Southern Birmingham Regional Intermodal Facility. E.S Wagner’s contracted work on this project consisted of 1,700,000 cubic yards of excavation, 300,000 tons of dense grade aggregate, 25,000 linear feet of storm and sanitary sewer, 4,500 linear feet of water line and 220,000 square yards of 9”-16” roller compacted concrete pavement. Additional work included, the construction and installation of 31,600 track feet of pre-plated wood tie track, 37,000 track feet of steel tie track, 10 box culverts, 8 above ground tank storage systems, 690 linear feet of pre-cast viaduct structure, facility entrance road, electrical, compressed air system, site security, erosion and sediment control and landscaping.
Working closely with the Owner and Engineer, E.S. Wagner adapted its work to incorporate twenty-one plan set revisions while still meeting the major project schedule milestone and opening the facility in on time as originally planned.
