E.S. Wagner Company was recently awarded a $63.8M contract for rehabilitation and upgrading of the IR475/75 corridor in Toledo, Ohio by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT Project 10-0281). Per a study conducted by the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG), the project is considered the top priority in highway construction for the Toledo metropolitan area.
The centerpiece of the project is a new interchange connecting Promedica Parkway and the IR 475/75 corridor. The interchange is integral for two reasons. First, it provides direct access to The Toledo Hospital, the regions leading acute and tertiary care facility. Second, the interchange utilizes design improvements aimed at significantly increasing highway safety. In completing the work, E.S. Wagner Company will rehabilitate 8 existing bridges; construct 4 new bridges, plus 8 retaining and 4 noise walls; and demolish 3 existing structures. Other highlights include the placement of 30,000 cubic yards of concrete; 4 million pounds of reinforcing steel; and 100,000 lineal feet of piling along with the erection of over 5 million pounds of structural steel. Construction will begin in late July 2010 with a scheduled completion date of June 2013.
